Building Project

The Fitchburg Public Library’s mission is to provide materials and exceptional service to all people in their quest for information, recreation, research, and life-long learning. Much like the City of Fitchburg itself, the Library has welcomed new arrivals for generations.

The Fitchburg Public Library strives to fulfill this mission by strengthening the Fitchburg community through three areas of impact:

1. Cultural Development: Empowering people to reach their full potential.

2. Safe Haven: Embrace our role as a safe haven for people of all walks of life.

3. Social Infrastructure: Foster human connection and access to information.

To strengthen the Fitchburg community, this building project will encompass two major changes:

1. We will renovate the existing Wallace Library, preserving its structural integrity and creating an interior space that more efficiently, effectively, and safely serves the community.

2. We will create an entirely new children's library and learning center to replace the existing Youth Library.

Both elements of this project will not only improve the facility, but also empower the Library to continue serving as a key community resource to enable the opportunity to work, learn, and expand personal horizons.
