In Massachusetts, the State Sanitary Code is the primary regulation to protect the health, safety and well-being of the occupants of housing and the general public. All housing must meet the Minimum Standards of Fitness for Human Habitation, Chapter II of the State Sanitary Code and locally adopted Fitchburg Board of Health Regulations.
The Health Department inspects and enforces the State Sanitary Code and local regulations detailing the standards which must be maintained by the occupants and owners of housing. These regulations, specifically 105 CMR 410.000 are available for viewing below as well as Local Regulations.
